Goals o National Office o The Issues o National Executive NATIONAL OFFICE Transport 2000 is a registered charity (Revenue Canada no. 0528349-59) and is involved with research, public education and advocacy, representation of the consumer interest before federal, provincial and municipal public hearings and regulatory bodies, direction of consumer complaints to public carriers, and other activities. Transport 2000 operates as a federation of seven regional associations, each concerned with local and regional issues, and membership is open to all. Most of the work of Transport 2000 is accomplished by dedicated volunteers. An office is maintained in Ottawa with a full-time staff. The national office maintains an extensive library of transportation-related
publications and documents. It assists regional groups in preparation of
briefs and position papers and develops a common approach to issues of
national importance. The national office undertakes original transportation
research and provides consulting and research services under contract.
