1 - Guy Chartrand remembered

Transport 2000 Canada was advised today that long time member and former T2000 Canada president, Guy Chartrand, died yesterday in Montreal following a brief struggle with cancer. Mr. Chartrand was a leader in the struggle for improved public transport in Canada. During his term as Quebec policy assistant to two federal ministers of Transport in Ottawa, he made important contributions to various improvements to VIA Rail in the 1990s.

Transport 2000 Canada expresses its sincere condolences to his family, friends and close associates. Throughout his career on the transportation scene, Guy remained close to the issues and values of Transport 2000.

2 - Eileen Jackson remembered

Eileen Jackson, mother of Michael Jackson, died recently in Saskatchewan. Eileen was one of the founding members of Transport 2000 Canada in 1976 and had served as treasurer of T2000 Saskatchewan.
